Lucretia Mott was an American Quaker who became a teacher after graduating from school.
Her interests included women's rights and the abolition of slavery.
Mott became a Quaker Minister, was first President of the American Equal Rights Association, was one of the founders of Swarthmore College, helped set up the Free Religious Association and the Philadelphia Female Anti-Slavery Society. She was also actively involved with the Universal Peace Union and other organisations.
Mott advocated boycotting the products of the slave trade such as cane sugar and cotton.
