Had breakfast at 10 o’clock, went down to front, had a walk and a cup of coffee in a very smart Coffee Bar then went down to the harbour.
Embarked on Steamer at 1.15, sailed at 2.15. Dinner on board was from 15/- for main course so we did not have any but waited till 4 p.m. and had afternoon tea consisting of bread, butter & jam and one cake 3/7 per head.
The weather is beautiful now and a very calm crossing. Arsène & his Mum & Dad met us at Ostende. They had friends with a car and we followed them and they took us to Brugge where we all got out the car and went into a café for coffee then on to Arsène’s house for dinner. We had soup, salad and cherries. They gave us a cognac first. After dinner they took us to see round Gent, then on to our digs for the night.
Very peculiar rooms – 1 room with 2 single beds and 2 rooms with 1 single bed.
