Namur
Wednesday
12th Day – 24th July 1957
We set off from Landau about nine.
It was quite a nice morning we carried on into the Saar where we stopped for lunch at Mertz. It was very good but they charged us 8/6 and did not tell us we could have had the soup & sweet for the same money.
We went on to Luxembourg where we stopped and had a look round the shops. We had peach melba and lemonade in a café on the pavement.
We carried on to Dinant where we meant to stay the night but everyplace was full up so we had to go on till we came to a small Hotel just off the main road past Nanur*, called CORRAY LE GRAND* where we stopped for dinner and the night. When they told us the price of the dinner we nearly passed out, but Harry spoke to the man and he reduced it by about half.
We had to pass through Harry & Doreen’s room to the bathroom, but very nice rooms. We played cards and had some wine before going to bed.
It poured of rain all morning after we left Landau till lunch time when it cleared up and turned out a very nice evening.
* Namur & Corroy Le Grand (sadly no sign of the Corroy Le Grand hotel still existing)
