14th Day – 26th July 1957
We set off at 6.30 a.m. for Ostende without any breakfast. It was raining again.
We had a cup of coffee before we went on the boat, then had breakfast on board before the boat sailed at 8 o’clock. It was quite a choppy crossing and quite a lot of people were sick but we were O.K.
We had no trouble at all with the customs, they did not examine anything and we pushed on through Dover, where we bought rolls etc and ate them in the car.
The weather improved till by afternoon the sun was shining. We stopped at Buntingford for afternoon tea about 4.45 p.m. then went on to Grantham where we got a room in the Hotel Diana for the night. We got changed and went out for a meal.
It poured of rain in Grantham when we arrived but it improved before we went out.
We went to an Hotel in Grantham for dinner and it cost 9/6 per head then we went to a pub for a drink. We went back to our Hotel and went to bed. We had 4 single beds in our room.
